NMI Durban South Motors (Pty) Ltd (NMI-DSM) is a joint venture company between Barloworld Limited and NH Partnership.  The joint venture also includes Garden City Motors (Pty) Ltd and Freightliner/FUSO.  NH Partnership is a partnership between two family trusts for the benefit of the Akoo family. The Akoo family are successful and respected business people (mainly in the motor industry) with a proven track record in the greater Durban area. The joint venture commenced on 1 April 2003 and has proved to be a very successful and profitable business combination which has developed a strong trading culture balanced with a culture of corporate governance, mainly focused on the DaimlerChrysler Brands, and with strong cash flows.       
 
NMI-DSM, Garden City Motors & Freightliner/FUSO are Black Empowerment Companies with a combined total of 8 Dealerships in KwaZulu Natal.

The NMI-DSM Brand Centre which is situated on La Lucia Ridge opened the doors for trading on 6 December 2004, where there are three DaimlerChrysler Dealerships ie Mercedes-Benz, ChryslerJeepDodge and Mitsubishi Motors with Sales, Service and Parts divisions with in-house Boutiques and Bistros.
           
The NMI-DSM, Garden City Motors & FUSO/Freightliner Head Office is also at the Umhlanga Brand Centre in Cane Gate Road, La Lucia Ridge.

Mercedes-Benz, Durban is situated in the heart of Durban in Old Fort Road and deals with Sales and Service of Passenger Vehicles. The Parts head office is also at these premises with outlets at each of the other Dealerships.

NMI-DSM, Pinetown in Old Main Road, houses Mercedes-Benz, ChryslerJeepDodge and Mitsubishi with Sales and Service Departments for passenger vehicles (including smart)

Mercedes-Benz, Commercial Vehicles premises in the new industrial area known as River Horse Business Park and also consists of Sales and Service Departments.

FUSO/Freightliner is situated in Sprite Place in Westmead and has Sales and Service Departments.

Garden City Motors in Armitage Road in Pietermaritzburg has Sales and Service Departments who look after Mercedes-Benz (including smart), ChryslerJeepDodge and Mitsubishi passenger vehicles.

Garden City Commercial Vehicles in Grix Road in Pietermaritzburg takes care of Mercedes-Benz and Freightliner, Sales and Service.

Garden City Ladysmith is situated in Murchison Street with Sales and Service Departments for all the DaimlerChrysler Passenger and Commercial Vehicles brands.  

All three Companies are very successful and NMI-DSM in particular has been honoured to receive some prestigious DaimlerChrysler awards.  The DaimlerChrysler Dealer of the Year award is based on Sales and Audit results and Customer Satisfaction Indices and for 3 years in a row, 2005, 2006 & 2007, the Passenger Vehicle Brand Centres have been awarded the Dealer of the Year awards in the their Divisions and in 2005 NMI-DSM received the sought after Chairman’s award as well.

These results are evidence that the focus is totally Customer oriented and the belief of the staff body is that excellence is a way of life.

This very successful partnership is all set to take on the new challenges set by DaimlerChrysler in the future.
